[ARCHIVED] Outstanding Projects Recognized for the 2026 Community Design Awards

Community Design Awards

LA VERNE, CA – At the February 17 City Council meeting, the La Verne City Council proudly recognized a distinguished group of businesses, developers, and property owners during its Community Design Awards program, celebrating projects that elevate architectural quality, enhance neighborhood character, and contribute to the City’s long-term vision.

The Community Design Awards recognize outstanding achievements in project development and honor projects for their excellence in design. Awards were presented for projects in the categories of commercial, institutional, residential, historic preservation & adaptive reuse, interior design, public facility, and public art. The program reflects the City’s commitment to thoughtful growth, quality development, and the preservation of La Verne’s unique identity.

2026 Community Design Award Recipients

Commercial & Interior Design

  • HOTWORX La Verne – Stella Pak (1395 Foothill Boulevard): A 24-hour infrared fitness studio providing a modern wellness experience through innovative design and functionality. 
  • Orange Fish Sushi – Igna Saputra (2855 Foothill Boulevard, Suite B101): A vibrant dining establishment that transformed an existing space into a contemporary and welcoming restaurant environment. 

Interior Design

  • Carpiaux Family Orthodontics – Weston Carpiaux (929 W Foothill Boulevard, Suite F): A locally rooted orthodontic practice recognized for creating a welcoming, thoughtfully designed interior that reflects its community-centered values. 
  • Leso Studios – Mario Villalobos (2125 Bonita Avenue): A modern salon studio concept designed to support independent beauty professionals through adaptable and design-forward spaces.

Industrial

  • White Industrial – Chalmers Corporation (1510 N White Avenue): Honored for significant site improvements that enhanced the appearance and functionality of an industrial property. 

Residential & Public Art

  • Heritage on First – Victor Lockett (First Street & White Avenue): A newly constructed 17-unit luxury townhome community featuring contemporary architectural elements and a public art installation that enriches the streetscape. 

Residential

  • Verdana I – Brandywine Homes (Fruit Street): A 50-unit townhome community showcasing Spanish and Mediterranean architectural styles. 
  • Verdana II – Brandywine Homes (Walnut Street): An affordable housing development featuring eight detached units designed with cohesive architectural character. 

Residential & Landscape

  • The Felix Residence – Kenneth Felix (Majella Avenue): Recognized for extensive exterior and landscape improvements that enhance neighborhood character and visual appeal. 

Supporting La Verne’s Vision for the Future

The Community Design Awards program supports the City’s General Plan goals of preserving neighborhood character, encouraging economic vitality, and promoting high-quality, sustainable development.

“Each of this year’s award recipients demonstrates how thoughtful design and careful investment can positively shape our community,” said the Mayor Tim Hepburn. “We sincerely thank these property owners, business operators, and development teams for their hard work and commitment to excellence. These projects align with the vision outlined in our General Plan by enhancing livability, strengthening economic opportunity, and maintaining the distinct character that makes La Verne such a special place.”
