La Verne, CA – The City of La Verne is pleased to welcome Danny Wu as its new Director of Public Works. With extensive experience in municipal planning, infrastructure development, project management, and sustainable transportation, Mr. Wu brings a strong track record of leadership and innovation in public works services.
“Through the interview process, including a Department Director level panel and multiple meetings with Danny, I was extremely impressed with Danny’s extensive background in diverse public works programs including transportation planning, capital project management, and his demonstration to lead staff teams and develop a positive and productive work culture,” stated City Manager Ken Domer. “Combined with his strong relationships with regional agencies, knowledge of the East San Gabriel Valley, and his enthusiasm for Public Works, I know he will be an exceptional leader for our Public Works Department and the goal to enhance our infrastructure and deliver services for the residents of La Verne."
Mr. Wu has spent his career overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects, managing multimodal transportation initiatives, and fostering collaborations with regional agencies. His expertise spans capital project management, environmental compliance, and integrating sustainable practices into public works operations. He has successfully led multi-million dollar capital projects, secured vital funding for key transportation initiatives, and implemented strategic policies to enhance community infrastructure through various public agency and private sector roles, including his most recent tenure as the Executive Director, Capital Planning & Transportation for Cal Poly Pomona. Prior to that, he held senior management positions with LA Metro and the cities of Anaheim and Irvine.
The La Verne Public Works Department is comprised of six divisions and employs 48 full-time staff dedicated to maintaining the City’s essential infrastructure and services. With an annual expenditure budget of approximately $24.1 million, the department oversees Building Maintenance, Street Maintenance, Water Utilities, Sewer Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Parks Maintenance, and Public Works Administration/Environmental Compliance.
